A good excuse to go in for an ice cream sundae and thank them personally .....

Newmill Open Gardens 2012

Sunday 17th June was the appointed day for the eighth Newmill Open Gardens. After all the rain we have had, we were relieved to get a dry day with a little sunshine from time to time. We had a good attendance and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

At The Old Post Office there was an art exhibition and a bookstall.

At Trelynden there were plants for sale and a tombola. Across the lane at Boulders delicious cakes and jams were on sale.

Cream teas were on offer at Chynoey, together with plant sales and bric--brac.

Trythall School joined in for the second time, offering refreshments and lots of activities in the playground.

The village children who held a toy sale last summer (see below) did so again on Open Gardens Day and collected £75.

Stars of the show this year were Pensans Morris. They performed in the stone circle at Bay of Biscay Cottage and then later at The Mill House.

Two further attractions at The Mill House were the restored water wheel which was spinning around ...

The raffle, which was organised by ACE trustee, Janet Pye, was drawn at the end of the day by the Vicar of Madron and Gulval, Rev. Tim Hawkins. The hooked ragrug was won by Sonia Berryman from Gurnards Head and the woven bag by Rev. Beth White from Penzance.

The event raised £3,060 for ACE funds, and increased the amount we have raised at the eight Open Gardens events we have held to over £22,000.

Thank you to everyone who helped or came along.
